He may not have an extensive, or even impressive, résumé, but Jake Paul is undeniably one of the most recognizable figures in professional boxing. When Jake spoke, everyone listened. Recently, however, things didn’t go well when the social media influencer turned to the direction of a professional boxer. Tommy Fury, brother of heavyweight boxing king Tyson, was unable to enter the United States to attend the Showtime Pay Per View main event scheduled to fight Paul at Madison Square Garden. Substitute Hasim Rahman Jr then claimed he was unable to gain weight, causing the entire August card to be cancelled.
Now, however, Paul seems to be starting his ring career back to normal. “The opponent wrote,” he tweeted on Wednesday. “October is mine.” Who that opponent is or where the fight will be held is still unknown to the public. However, Paul fights at cruiserweight and it’s likely that the opponent will be at least a notable one, as the bout will likely be the main Showtime Pay Per View event. However, Paul had never fought anyone who was already a boxer. In fact, although he beat former UFC fighter Tyron Woodley for the last time in the ring, none of Paul’s opponents have a sweet scientific basis. It will be interesting to see if things change this time around.
With all that said, it’s undeniable that Paul takes boxing very seriously. He also has some skills. Compared to any other 5-0 newcomer, it’s only fair to say “so far, so good” when looking at Paul’s ring record so far. It should also be noted that 25 years old has the power to turn off the lights. He may not be the type to walk or talk, but Paul’s right hand is impressive.
