Is this the weirdest lens you’ve ever seen?

One of the most important traits to being a successful photographer is creating a unique and original style. There are many ways to do this, and one of them is using unique equipment. This lens might be one of the weirdest you’ll ever see.

Growing up by the sea in Sydney’s southern suburbs, it was inevitable that when I embarked on photography, I eventually wanted to get into the water to photograph surfers and waves. Of course, when there’s water in it, it’s not that simple, as you can’t just rush in with your camera gear unless you want to wave your device goodbye. You need a waterproof case and ports for different types of lenses. And if you want to get really close to your subject, the best lens to get is a fisheye lens. When I first got one and started playing with it, I thought it was the weirdest lens I could ever see. Turns out I was very wrong.

And that brings us to this amazing video by Pierre T. Lambert in which he introduces you to a 50mm f/1.4 . tilt-shift lens. I didn’t specify the manufacturer because there seems to be some confusion about the origin of the lens he is using in the video. Lambert says it’s TTArtisan’s lens in his video, but there’s no record of that lens on TTArtisan’s website. It may be an AstrHori lens, another third-party lens maker, but regardless of its origins, it’s definitely a quirky lens. If you’ve never seen a tilt lens before, prepare for an exciting experience. Some of the images Lambert takes are unique and can help photographers stand out from the crowd, but I’m not quite sure how to take my own photos. Watch the video and let me know what you think.
