Is Angel Reese’s flagrant foul on Caitlin Clark ‘just a part of basketball’?

The Chicago sky And Indiana fever had their second match WNBA season on Sunday, bringing back old college rivals Reese’s Angel And Caitlin Clark Another chance to fight it.

During the game, Reese was called for a flagrant foul after a hard hit on Clark while trying to block her shot at the rim. Reese missed the ball completely and instead connected with Clark’s head.

The call was initially a routine error, but after reviewing the video, officials upgraded it to Flagant 1.

Following the fever 91-83 win, both Reese and Clark settled for the shot. Reese called it “a basketball game” and Clark echoed her comment saying, “That’s just part of basketball.”

But both players knew the foul would spark conversation, with Reese saying, “I always go after the ball. But you guys are going to play that clip 20 times before Monday.”

And that’s exactly what happened.

The clip went viral on social networks, with some even calling for the Sky striker to be suspended because they thought her hit was intentional.

Was Angel Reese’s flagrant foul on Caitlin Clark a ‘play of basketball’?

On the second episode of “Talk,” co-chair Emmanuel Acho begins with a message to those seeking suspension.

“Let me make this clear first: Angel Reese should not be suspended for that foul,” Acho said. Let me argue against the wild views circulating on social media.”

Sky has only had two flagrant fouls this season, and both were called for collisions with Clark. The first is given to the guard Chenny Carter in their June 1 lost to Fever, after she gave Clark a cheap shot during an inbounds play. The second match was a shot by Reese.

While previously LSU star previously said that she and her ex Iowa stars don’t hate each other, Acho thinks that Reese’s recent actions are speaking louder than her words.

Acho said after mentioning Reese’s cheers after the first blatant hit on Clark and comments on social media about taking on the “bad guy” role.

While “cattle” host Colin herds cows Not believing that Clark was experiencing a form of “bullying”, he agreed with Reese and Clark that rough fouls were just part of the game.

Cowher: Reese’s foul on Clark was ‘nothing to be angry about’

“It was a flagrant foul, she got up and played,” Cowherd said.

“It’s part of basketball… every industry has a little bit of a bad side… a little bit of a tribal side. This is what basketball is.”

While fouls are part of the game, Cowherd believes the “outrage” surrounding the WNBA this season, primarily involving Clark, is a bit excessive.

“The women are figuring it out,” Cowherd said. The very people who parachute into this sport without ever watching it don’t understand the nagging feeling you get when you join the WNBA.”

Sky and Fever have one more regular season match scheduled for June 23 at 3pm ET.
