Interview: Gungrave GORE was once the ‘Monster’ of a game

Gungrave GORE just released, and it’s a revival of a relatively obscure series of games that notably last appeared on the PlayStation 2. It preserves much of the gameplay that marked the original as a hybrid. Special between shooter and character action games, bringing it forward into the present day with a new, updated look. But it’s not always like that for developers Iggymob in charge The Violent Adventures of Beyond the Grave. Just before the game was released, Siliconera had a chance to ask General Manager Kay Kim about the game, its origins, inspiration, and what they’ve been up to since 2017, when the game was first announced. .

Josh Tolentino: What was your biggest inspiration when designing a new look for Grave?

Ky Kim: From the game, the previous part gun grave franchises are the most inspirational, and from movies, series balance is the most inspirational. Christian Bale’s Gunkata action is still worth watching.

Jenni Lada: What challenges did you face while working on Gungrave GORE?

needle: I think there is nothing easy about developing a game. Everything is difficult. Especially at a time when mobile games are the main platform in Korea, it is difficult for us console game developers to find investment. At that time, there were only six people left in the team making the game. We didn’t give up to achieve our dreams, and thanks to that endurance, we ended up meeting great partners, strengthening the team, and making it this far.

Lada: Gungrave GOREhas been in development since 2017. How has your game and design changed over the years? Does the extended development issue give you any additional opportunities to refine your characters?

needle: At first, the game was designed in a half-open world style and it was terrible. It’s weird how Grave searches and chats. We were benchmarking games that were popular at the time and it turned out to be a weird one. So we set the game beyond the original gun grave design, and now it looks like what we are seeing today. We’ve tweaked the characters since then to make them look better.

Lada: What was the most challenging part of Grave’s design to bring to life? Gungrave GORE?

needle: It’s not as difficult as one might think. we worked with [original Gungrave Character Designer Yasuhiro Nightow] profound in many ways, so we were able to develop the character design quite easily.

Tolentino: Original gun grave The game has been adapted into an anime series. Are there any plans to produce gun grave Outside stories Gungrave GORE?

needle: Do Gungrave GORE a successful entry into the franchise is our main focus right now. We will be able to discuss more future ideas about it later.

Tolentino: Aside from your own characters, who is your favorite fictional gunfighter?

I like Christian Bale from balance Most. He was wonderful.
