Intermountain Healthcare appoints Robert Allen as President, CEO


Intermountain Healthcare on Thursday appointed Robert Allen as president and chief executive officer, effective December 1.

Allen is currently the CEO of Intermountain, a position he has held since 2017. With over 25 years of experience leading the healthcare industry, Allen served as the CEO of Massachusetts hospitals, New Jersey and Wyoming before joining Intermountain’s team in 2008.

He will replace interim President and CEO Lydia Jumonville, who led the system while its board sought a long-term successor to Intermountain’s former president and CEO. , Dr. Marc Harrison.

Harrison left the healthcare system in August to join venture capital firm General Catalyst.

Jumonville will continue to serve as the organization’s executive integration sponsor until its planned retirement at the end of 2023.

Intermountain operates 33 hospitals, nearly 400 clinics, and a 1 million-member health plan with approximately 59,000 employees across seven states. The healthcare system, which merged with SCL Health in April, recently reported a 24.5% increase in revenue to $6.52 billion in the first half of 2022, largely due to its patient services. and risky arrangements instead of traditional fee-for-service models.
