Intermountain Health promotes Nannette Berensen to COO
Intermountain Health has appointed Nannette Berensen as chief executive officer, the nonprofit integrated health system announced Thursday.
Berensen is filling the C-suite chair held for six years by Intermountain President and CEO Rob Allen, who transitioned from COO to the top job on Dec.
“There are enormous challenges facing the healthcare industry that require the intellect and collective efforts of all of us to position Intermountain Health for future success. I believe that by working together , we will succeed,” Berensen said in the press release.
Allen succeeds interim President and CEO Lydia Jumonville, who will be Integration’s executive sponsor for Intermenez until she retires at the end of the year. Former CEO Dr Marc Harrison left the Salt Lake City-based company in August to join venture capital firm General Catalyst.
Berensen has held several positions at Intermountain Health for over 17 years. Prior to her promotion, she was vice president and chief operating officer of Clinical Shared Services.
“I have the utmost respect and trust in Nannette, who has demonstrated a unique ability to drive innovation, bring teams together and improve the patient experience.” Allen said in a press release.
Intermountain Health amassed $2.16 billion in net income in the third quarter, according to an unaudited financial report released in November. The health system operates 33 hospitals and 385 clinics and employs about 60,000 people.
