Trauma, whether physical or emotional (or both), is difficult to overcome for a rescued animal. Rehabilitating traumatized dogs so they can live a normal life is the goal of rescuers, paramedics, and breeders. However, some dogs have it easier than others.
Lilac spent her days on the streets, circling an elementary school. When Hope For Paws stepped in to save her, they witnessed with their own eyes how terrified she was. When they fed her and then arrested her, she fought fiercely. Little did she know that these people were simply there to support her. It is clear that she is suffering a lot.

Tanja comes to talk to Lilac. The woman’s pleasant demeanor, as she walked past and then knelt, was just what Lilac needed. All alone, Lilac went to Tanja. Next, she stuck her tiny nose up on her arm, as if to say: “You seem like a good woman.“

This may not seem like a big deal, but it was. Lilac had never touched anyone before. Not even everyone who worked day and night to support her. Lilac understands that Tanja is who she is now! As the video depicts, that touch proved that Tanja was Lilac’s man.
Lilac was officially adopted and brought home. Without a doubt, this is where she belongs. Tanja made it her duty to treat Lilac like a dog. Not a bad dog, but a dog. And that’s exactly what Lilac needed.
