I Accidentally Found My Stolen Guitar

Warning: although Photoshop was used to identify the guitar, this is not really photography related, but this story is too good not to share.

Twenty years ago, during my freshman year of college, I worked all summer to buy a Taylor 414ce guitar. At the time, it was the most expensive thing I ever bought and it had a lot of sentimental value to me. For the past 3 years, while renting a house in Puerto Rico, I’ve left my guitar locked in a cupboard in a rental property in the states. Last week, after 3 years, I went to get my guitar and it wasn’t there.

I assumed I moved the guitar and it would eventually turn up but out of curiosity I decided to see how much used Taylor guitars cost on Facebook Marketplace. The first guitar for sale was posted earlier that day and it happened to be an almost identical Taylor 414ce guitar. At first I just thought it was a coincidence but after comparing it to a blurry old photo of my guitar, I started to suspect that it might actually be my lost guitar. .

I won’t spoil the story for you here. Check out the video above for one of the most random, lucky, and bizarre stories of my life that took place in 48 hours.

I recently started my own Youtube channel and I’ll post stuff there, like the video above, not related to photography. If you are interested, ordered.
