Hyundai Creta 2023 again teased Malaysia – B-segment SUV; bigger than Kona; launch soon?
The Hyundai Creta was once again teased for the Malaysian market as Hyundai-Sime Darby Motors (HSDM) recently posted a blurry image of the compact SUV on its social media pages. Creta facelifted has been spotted undisguised on our road beforeand before that, HSDM hinted at the appearance of the model in the video was posted last December.
If you’re wondering where Creta is on the list, it’s a bit larger than the Kona currently on sale here. Breaking the gauge, Creta has a length of 4,315 mm, a width of 1,790 mm, a height of 1,630 mm and a wheelbase of 2,610 mm. For comparison, the Kona measures 4,215 mm long, 1,800 mm wide, 1,575 mm high and has a wheelbase of 2,600 mm.
While Hyundai’s upcoming SUV will be something new to us, our neighbors in the Thailand And Indonesia welcomed it a while ago. We should note that the Creta is a locally assembled (CKD) model in Indonesia and the cars produced there are also exported to Thailand.
Both markets have the same powertrain with a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated four-cylinder petrol engine that produces 115 hp and 144 Nm of torque. Drive is sent to the front wheels via Hyundai’s Intelligent Variable Transmission (iVT) – the brand’s version of the CVT – although Indonesia is the only country with the option of a six-speed manual transmission.
Referring to the higher-end kit list offered in Thailand, the Creta is available with a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and 17 alloy wheels. inches as well as LED headlights and daytime running lights.
All variants come standard with six airbags, stability control and Hyundai’s SmartSense driver assistance system, which includes automatic emergency braking, lane centering assist, lane keep assist, and more. Blind spot monitoring with collision avoidance and door opening warning.
The HSDM post doesn’t say when it’s going to be released or even the price. Currently, Creta retails for between 291.3 and 408.3 million rupiah (about RM86k and RM120k) in Indonesia, while in Thailand, prices range from 949k to 999k baht (approximately 122k) to RM129 thousand).
