Husqvarna Svartpilen 801 prototype breaks the shell
Husqvarna Svartpilen 801 prototype
At the recent launch of the new 2024 Husqvarna Svartpilen 401 and Vitpilen 401 models, one big question that remained unanswered was where do riders go when they outgrow these beginner-oriented models?
Overnight Husky has answered that question by offering snippets of the Svartpilen 801 prototype as the next step in the Husqvarna product line.
This expands the Svartpilen model line into a mid-power option derived from the KTM 790 Duke. That means the 801 is powered by a powerful parallel-twin motor, unlike the large single motor that powers the upcoming 701.
We won’t have full details on the new 2024 Svartpilen 801 until March 19, but here’s what we know so far about the new motorcycle. Weight is 181 kg and the parallel-twin engine produces 105 horsepower.
Husqvarna tells us we’ll see the same Easy-Shift system as used on the 401s and ‘state of the art electronic rider aids’ which I assume will at least match the 401s These can be driving modes, ABS when cornering and traction control.
This particular machine was developed in prototype form on flat and oval tracks, so the special treaded tires look like they could do some real damage.
The slim bodywork wraps neatly around the engine and frame, with steering damper and adjustable WP suspension also part of the package. That’s all we know for now, we’ll have to wait until March 19 for full details.
