Two months ago, ZDNET Senior Reviews Editor Kerry Wan omitted the details on some leaked information about the Galaxy Z Fold 6. In addition to being Samsung’s thinnest and lightest large-screen phone, the Fold 6 could have a 6.3-inch 22:9 external display (wider than last year) and a 7.6-inch internal display.

Wan explained that this means a shift away from the “tall, remote-control-like shape” of other foldable devices and toward a more traditional phone feel. The new shape is one of three main things Wan said Samsung needed to make the Fold 6 his “dream foldable phone,” so this is a welcome change.

A more recent leak from Evan Blass suggests the following spec upgrades for the Z Fold 6: an improved Armor Aluminum frame, up to 2,600 nits of brightness, a new Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, and up to two hours more video playback time than the Z Fold 5.

The new Galaxy Z Fold 6 will also support Samsung’s latest Galaxy AI features, take advantage of the larger internal display, and support the S Pen for Circle to searchLive transcription and more.

As for what’s staying the same: the battery is the same size (4,400mAh), the outer display is still treated to last year’s Gorilla Glass Victus 2, and there’s likely more to come. Despite no camera or battery upgrades, Samsung still plans to raise the price of the Z Fold 6 this year, from its previous starting price of $1,799 to $1,899. That price is for the 12GB RAM/256GB storage configuration, Evan Blass says.

2. Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6

Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip is arguably the more basic foldable of the pair, with a clamshell design reminiscent of old-school flip phones. So how will Samsung improve on the Z Flip in year six?

Leaker Evan Blass suggests the new model will feature a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor and 12GB of RAM (up from last year’s 8GB), a 50MP main sensor instead of last year’s 12MP, a slimmer design, and a larger 4,000mAh battery. The Z Flip 6 will also feature a more uniform color design, meaning the sides, hinge, and back cover will all come in the color of your choice — be it blue, pink, natural titanium, or gold.

Like the Z Fold 6, the Z Flip 6 is expected to get a $100 price increase, bringing the new starting price to $1,099 from last year’s $999. That surcharge could be justified by the presence of Samsung AI Galaxy featured.

3. Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra and Galaxy Watch 7

Next, let’s look at a recent leak from Dealabs Samsung Galaxy Watch “Ultra” and Series 7 specs leak The leak shows several renders of the two new watches and offers some key details — the presence of 40mm, 44mm, and 47mm sizes, a 3nm five-core Exynos W1000 chipset for smoother, more powerful performance, health tracking like blood oxygen detection and stress and sleep analysis, workout tracking, and more.

The Galaxy Watch 7 Ultra is said to come in one size, 47mm, and three watch face colors: titanium gray, titanium silver, and titanium white. It will also support 4G and Bluetooth connectivity and feature the same sapphire glass and 3D printing as the base version, but with a titanium case.

Another leak 15W charging teasewill be 50% faster than the current Galaxy Watch. There will apparently be a slight difference in battery life between the Galaxy Watch 7 and Watch Ultra, with leaked specs suggesting the 40mm and 44mm options for the Watch 7 will have a 300mAh battery and a 425mAh battery, while the 47mm Watch 7 Ultra could carry the largest battery of all — a 590mAh one.

Perhaps the biggest news gleaned from recent leaks about the Watch Ultra is the addition of Galaxy AI for things like composing messages and providing sleep insights. We’ll likely see similar functionality for the other fitness wearable Samsung plans to launch at Unpacked: the Galaxy Ring.

4. Samsung Galaxy Ring

EQUAL detailed by ZDNET’s Maria DiazThe highly anticipated Samsung Galaxy Ring is expected to launch at Samsung Unpacked in July 2024. Like other smart ringsThe product will likely offer health and sleep tracking features and come in a variety of colors and sizes.

From what we’ve gathered so far, the Galaxy Ring is expected to support ECG and blood flow measurement, providing data on heart rate and blood oxygen levels. Device control via Samsung SmartThings and wireless payments via Samsung Pay could also be among the features.

In a roundtable interview at MWC in February, Samsung executive Hon Pak hinted that the Samsung Health app would play an integral role in the Galaxy Ring experience, including the ability to monitor potential sleep apnea symptoms by tracking sleep patterns and changes in blood oxygen levels and sending heart rate alerts during sleep. Those features are in addition to the standard health and fitness tracking benefits that most smart rings offer.

The Galaxy Ring will also support “My Vitality Score,” a smart way to track your physical and mental readiness to tackle the day based on data about your sleep, activity, and heart rate. In terms of size and color, the ring will come in silver, black, and gold, with sizes ranging from 5 to 13 (nine sizes in total).

5. Samsung Galaxy Buds 3 Pro

Kerry Wan/ZDNET

While the Samsung Galaxy Buds 3 Pro were the company’s best-kept secret at its Unpacked launch, a Reddit User apparently got their hands on the new earbuds earlier this week, sharing photos of them in all their sonic glory with the public. This often happens when distributors and retailers like Best Buy and Target stock new products too early and accidentally sell them to customers.

Also: Galaxy AI features, including Live Translation, will be available on Galaxy Buds

Based on the hands-on images, the Galaxy Buds 3 Pro are a departure from Samsung’s traditional bulb shape, with a stem design that’s more akin to Apple’s AirPods. What are the benefits of this design? Improved microphone placement for calls and voice prompts, and a better fit since the earbuds now sit on your face.

We’ll learn more about the Galaxy Buds’ audio features and pricing at tomorrow’s Unpacked event, so stay tuned.
