Amazon is now adding a subscription service that includes more than 50 generic prescription drugs.

In-store prices are skyrocketing and it looks like the profits keep growing every time we shop. It is reaching a eternally moving boiling point, and we’re stuck in the heat while we wait. Families across the United States are suffering from growing food costs, with little money left over for other essentials like prescriptions, as eight out of ten adults say Prescription drug costs are unreasonable.

In response, Amazon has now launched RxPass as part of its Pharmacy service. This is a subscription model exclusively for Prime members with a flat fee of $5 per month without insurance. This plan includes more than 50 of the most commonly prescribed generic drugs to treat more than 80 medical conditions.

This sounds pretty cool, right? So catch what? The downside to this service is that not all common drugs are available, so it’s important to check if your prescription is available by searching through all RxPass drugs before subscribing.

Once you find the RxPass banner you can click Looking for more information, will take you to a page with more information about the subscription program. Click Getting Started with RxPass to register.

Next, you will be asked some questions to confirm your eligibility for the RxPass program.

Unfortunately, RxPass is not available to everyone who wants to sign up. There are restrictions on people using government insurance, and it’s only available in 42 states.

I don’t have an Amazon Pharmacy account, so I was prompted to create one to sign up for RxPass.

Filling out this information will give Amazon access to your prescriber to fill your prescriptions, as well as any health conditions and potential drug interactions that pharmacists should be aware of.

This method will be used to charge a $5 monthly subscription fee for RxPass. Choose one of the payment methods saved to your Amazon account, or add a new method and billing address.

Complete your health information so the pharmacy can have any medications and health conditions on file. This includes adding your medications to the prescription list so you can begin the process of transferring them to RxPass.

Once you’ve found your medication, check to see if it came with RxPass. This will determine if it’s worth paying the monthly subscription fee.

If your drug is included in the RxPass, click the Transfer Rx to Amazon Pharmacy button. If it’s not included in RxPass and you still ship your prescription, you’ll have the option to add your insurance to pay for the drug or pay it out of pocket.

Next, you’ll confirm your prescriber and add the pharmacy where you currently get your prescriptions, then submit a transfer request.

Instead, Amazon may contact your local pharmacy to transfer your prescription to their service, and provided all the information is confirmed, you should receive your prescription.

Frequently asked questions

Can you pay for RxPass with FSA/HSA?

Since the $5 monthly payment to RxPass is technically for subscription services and not directly for prescriptions, it doesn’t qualify for the FSA or HSA. The RxPass subscription fee is also not eligible to pay for your insurance. It is not an insurance plan nor a replacement for one.

Why am I not eligible for RxPass?

RxPass only works in 42 states and is not available to Medicare, Medicaid, or any other customers enrolled in government healthcare. RxPass is not available in the states of California, Louisiana, Maryland, Minnesota, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, Texas, and Washington.

If you have a government health plan or live in one of these states, you can still get prescriptions delivered using Amazon Pharmacy.

Are RxPass prescriptions cheaper than using insurance?

Whether a subscription service is worth it for a customer will largely depend on the individual needs of the subscriber. Personally, I only have one of my two prescriptions included in the RxPass service, and I get both of them for $5 a month through my insurance, so I won’t continue to sign up. sign your RxPass.

But if you find your drugs among the generic prescriptions available on RxPass and they’re currently $5 more, it’s probably worth using a subscription while you’re on those drugs.
