How to Photograph the Perseid Meteor Shower This Weekend

The peak of the Perseid meteor shower is due to happen this weekend between the 11th and 13th. The Perseid meteor shower is one of the most impressive displays, with counts of over 100 meteors per hour during the peak. In this video from StarScaper, he goes into further details on how to photograph and edit meteor shower images.

The peak of the Perseids this year has come at a good time, due to a waning moon of around 10% or less once the moon rises, which means we should have optimal conditions for this meteor shower. The only thing right now that we cannot control is the weather, so fingers crossed we can all have some clear skies this weekend to enjoy this marvelous spectacle.

In this video from Jeroen Linnenkamp, aka StarScaper, the brilliant astrophotographer discusses all you need to know about how to photograph a meteor shower, which will not only come in handy for the display this weekend, but for other meteor showers throughout the year.

StarScaper has you covered from discussing what gear you can use, the peak of the shower, weather conditions, moon phases, light pollution, and how best to capture the images, along with how to edit them using Lightroom and Photoshop.
