How to Book Bluegreen Vacations through Choice

Booking a Bluegreen Vacations stay through Choice Hotels is similar to booking a hotel. You start on the standard search page and search for a place to stay in one of the destinations that have Bluegreen Vacations properties. Alternatively, you can start on the Choice Hotels landing page for that specific property.

I think most travelers looking to book a Bluegreen Vacations property through Choice will have a specific property in mind. I recommend starting on that property’s landing page (you can click on individual properties from Bluegreen Vacations property listings on the Choice Hotels website if you wish).

Ideally, you would be able to click on a specific property’s calendar to see which dates are available to book with cash or points. But I find that these calendars often don’t show availability even when there are still rooms available. Instead, check all the dates you might want to book.

Despite the hyphen, there are still rooms available for stays from October 6 to 8. CHOICEHOTELS.COM

Unfortunately, you can only Choice Points Redemption for stays within the next 100 days and paid rates for stays within the next 50 weeks. As a result, it may be difficult to find available rooms at some properties on some dates.

Many Bluegreen Vacations properties also have minimum stay requirements that aren’t disclosed when you book through Choice Hotels, so try searching for vacations with different lengths of stay if your travel plans are flexible. Based on my searches, many properties require you to stay at least two nights.

Once you find a Bluegreen Vacations property you want to book that is available through Choice Hotels, check out the room types you can book with points. You may find multi-bedroom units that can sleep a large family (or a group of friends) for the same point cost as a studio suite or one-bedroom unit.

It’s also worth checking the prices paid, which are reasonable for some hotels on some dates. Consider a two-night stay at Bluegreen Vacations Fountains, Ascend Resort Collection.

You can redeem 30,000 points per night for any room type. But you could pay a total of $357 for a two-bedroom suite with two single beds and a queen bed or $374 for a two-bedroom suite with a king bed and two double beds, giving you a redemption rate of 0.59 to 0.62 cents per point. TPG’s July 2024 valuation Choice points are priced at 0.6 cents per point, so you may want to book a premium room if you don’t have a lot of Choice points and can often redeem Choice points at a higher rate.

As of press time, the reward rates are the same for every Bluegreen Vacations property you can book through Choice Hotels. Specifically, Sunday through Thursday nights cost 25,000 points, and Friday and Saturday nights cost 30,000 points through September 15. Then, from September 16 through November 30, all nights cost 20,000 points per room. Choice has not yet announced reward rates for stays from December 1 onward.

You can Earn Choice Points via credit card as Mastercard® Choice Privileges® Card (annual fee is $0; see prices and fees) or Choice Benefits® Choose Mastercard® ($95 annual fee, see prices and fees). You can also Buy Choice Points or transfer points from American Express Membership Rewards, Capital One miles, Citi ThankYou points and Wells Fargo Rewards.

But — especially if you don’t need a multi-bedroom apartment and aren’t traveling during peak travel dates — you may have an advantage by booking at the price you paid and earning Choice points on your Bluegreen Vacations stay. Make sure you sign up for any Choice Privileges Promotion before you stay to maximize your earnings.

Last line

Even if you’re not interested in purchasing a Bluegreen Vacations vacation share, you may still enjoy staying at one of their resorts. Luckily, Choice Hotels’ partnership with Bluegreen Vacations allows their members to book through Choice Hotels, including with Choice points.

You won’t need to attend a shared vacation presentation when you redeem Choice points or book a standard rate through Choice Hotels. But sometimes you’ll see promotions that offer discounted rates but require you to attend a shared vacation presentation — so be sure to read the fine print on the rate you’re booking if you don’t want to spend part of your vacation on a shared vacation presentation.
