How Queen Camilla reacted when she met Prince William

Even the royal family gets nervous, and Queen Camilla’s first meeting with Prince William is proof. A royal author has revealed that after Camilla first met William, she desperately needed a drink to relieve her stress.

Penny Junor, author of The Queen: The Life of Queen Camilla, revealed that the meeting took place because William was on his way home from his boarding school at Eton, according to Mirror. Camilla asked her to leave so that her presence would not make William feel uncomfortable, but Prince Charles then called her concerns “ridiculous” and informed William that he would meet Camilla at York House in London when he returned.

Charles and Camilla—who were “absolutely worried”—expected William to be home by 7 p.m., but instead he arrived four hours early. Charles thought it best to rip the Band-Aid off, and told Camilla that she and William “should just get on with it.” After 30 minutes with William, Camilla boldly declared, “I need a gin and tonic.”

Mirror It was also reported that PR expert Mark Bolland told Junor that Camilla’s relationship with William and Prince Harry needed to be made public. It was not an easy task either, with Bond saying it was “kind of awkward” at first.

“It’s hard for them; it’s natural. You want your mum, you don’t want her, and she has her own family,” he said. “To be fair to Camilla, she never tried to be a mum, but she was the ‘other woman’ and she was there to spend time with dad.”

As for William and Camilla’s current relationship, the pair have drawn a close connection between Kate Middleton and King Charles’ cancer treatment. “Recent events have clearly brought William and Camilla much closer together,” royal expert Jennie Bond told ALRIGHT backside March“They have been left, quite literally, to look after the Crown while the King and Princess recover.
