At Resolution Games, we love board games as much as anyone. Maybe even more! After all, you don’t make a game like Demeo without spending a few hundred nights around the kitchen table rolling dice and fighting bugs.
However, for every tablet game fan out there, dozens of curious tablet gamers are eager to try this hobby but feel overwhelmed by the piles of text and rules they need. analysis. And that’s before creating a character table! Demeo is made for table players — but it’s also made for table curious people.

To make the pen and paper immersive experience more accessible, we focused on the fundamentals that make these games great: challenging monsters, unique class-based abilities, plot stories and play with friends. With this starting point, we designed Demeo to present these elements in a way that is easy to understand and keeps the game going. (Strategy is important, but there’s nothing worse than waiting 15 minutes for the n-level wizard sitting to your left to finish their turn!)
In an effort to make the actions intuitive, the choices available to each party member are displayed on cards that can be played according to their turn. Instead of needing to remember dozens of possible actions the player can perform (or memorize lists of spells or recall what perks have been granted to a character with a magical weapon), every action Actionable actions are presented in a clear, easy-to-understand card. keep the game moving at a solid pace.
Some of these cards, such as Hunter’s Arrow, are replenished after each turn and serve as standard actions for a class. However, most — from the Wizard’s giant Fireball to healing potions and repeating ballistae — are single-use cards that add an important layer of strategy. Sure, you can use that “Roll of Charm” to lure an Elf Archer to fight for you right now; but maybe you want to keep it until you can convince an Ice Elemental to do your bidding in a crowded room full of spiders?
Board games also have an element of luck and Demeo is no different. Instead of a bag full of dice with different sides that determine hits, damage, etc., Demeo’s approach streamlines the rolling experience. A single three-sided die can determine if a player misses, hits, or critically hits — and you guessed it: if you’re playing on PlayStation VR2, you’ll feel great when tossing the virtual dice like when rolling the real dice in your hand.
In fact, thanks to the capabilities of PS VR2, the Demeo experience becomes tactile in ways that were simply not possible until now. Haptics in the PlayStation VR2 Sense controller make picking up your miniatures really like picking up your miniatures. And if your hero is knocked down or killed by one of the many monsters, the vibrations of the PS VR2 headset will make sure you never forget it.
The social experience of game night is faithfully recreated through gameplay that benefits from cooperative strategy and tabletop chat — but Demeo is also an experience suited to solo players. As any TTRPG fan will tell you, sometimes the biggest challenge is just arranging everyone’s schedule to line up for game night. Demeo allows players to scratch the itch on the table even when no one is around. In fact, one of the biggest compliments we received came from Game Master, who told us they switched to using Demeo as an alternate game when someone was absent from their party. them that week. Instead of running once so they don’t continue the campaign on their table without all the regular players in attendance, they run Demeo. And that continues to knock our socks off.
Demeo has a richly detailed world filled with different settings, monsters, and corruptible villains — but as a player, it’s a world you can immerse yourself in. into instead of building moment by moment. And while there are five complete adventures included, Demeo allows players to make the adventure experience their own.
