We’ve seen the adorable Smart #1 all-electric crossover before, but now it looks like the automaker is gearing up to reveal a hotter, angrier version – capable of mounting Brabus badge.
This sporty looking Smart #1 was revealed in a cryptic teaser video uploaded to Smart’s social media in early June, showing some short, cropped glimpses about the car.
While the car in the video may look similar to the regular Smart #1, it does appear to have some sporty additions like the air ducts on the bonnet, other alloy wheels, as well as accents. red on the lower air intake, roof and interior. vent.
We’ve seen a spy prototype in the past with the same alloy wheel design as this one in the trailer, as well as red painted brake calipers.
China Car News also recently captured the hot upcoming Smart #1 completely uncovered while parked in a parking lot, which suggests the reveal isn’t too far off.
At the time, this sporty-looking Smart #1 was believed to be a Brabus version due to Smart’s ties to the German tuning firm.

Regular intelligence #1
There’s no mention of Brabus throughout the video though, nor is it shown on the hot-looking Smart #1 at any point.
The regular Smart #1 is available now with a powertrain consisting of an electric motor generating 200kW of power and 343Nm of torque, driving the rear wheels. Smart claims the number 1 has a top speed of 180km/h.
This is powered by a 66kWh nickel-cobalt-manganese battery, the Smart #1 has a range of 420 to 440km according to the WLTP test.
This hotter Smart #1 is rumored to have a dual electric motor setup with a total system output of around 300kW, according to China Car News.
Throughout the 45-second promotional video there are standard disclaimers at the bottom that say avoid dangerous driving, but a specific disclaimer says the Smart #1 is hotter. This is currently considered the equivalent of the European Union.
The disclaimer calls the vehicle a “car” and it says the homologation process is “expected to be completed by July 2022”.
Once the homologation process is completed, it will explicitly publish the “official values”. Expect these values to include power and efficiency ratings.
The Smart #1 is the brand’s first vehicle developed under the joint ownership of Mercedes-Benz and Geely.
While all previous Smart models have been produced in Europe – most are produced at the brand’s factory in Hambach, France – the No. China by Geely.
Deliveries for the Smart #1 are normally expected to begin in China from late 2022, with Europe soon following suit in early 2023.
Smart left Australia in 2015 before the third generation ForTwo could hit the local market. Currently, Mercedes-Benz Australia has no plans to reintroduce the brand.
