It’s clear that an 800hp Honda CR-V hybrid race car will soon be unveiled, according to a teaser video released by Honda. That’s the job of the North American team.
It’s not really based on the CR-V – the exterior bodywork is just designed to look like that. It looks like it’s built from a tubular chassis, the kind common to these custom race cars.
Honda is not new to performance hybrid systems. It installed one in the second production generation of the NSX, powered by a twin-turbo 3.5-liter V6 paired with three engines – two at the front and one at the rear.
