Henry Ruggs III Released by Raiders: What to Know About DUI Charges Due to Deadly Car Accidents

Henry Ruggs III is no longer a member of the Raiders.

Las Vegas released the 22-year-old widescreen recorder late Tuesday after the organization learned of his involvement in an auto crash earlier in the day that left a woman dead. According to court documents, Ruggs faces DUI charges resulting in death and reckless driving.

(UPDATE: Court records show prosecutors in Clark County, Nev., added three more counts: DUI resulting in substantial bodily harm; reckless driving resulting in death or serious bodily harm; and possession of a firearm while under the influence. The first two are felonies while the third is misdemeanor.)

Henry Ruggs III’s Car Accident Details

Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department issued a statement on Tuesday says that officers responded to an accident involving the Chevrolet Corvette and Toyota Rav4 at 3:39 a.m. local time. The department’s initial investigation showed that Ruggs was driving a Chevrolet Corvette at high speed and crashed into the tail of a burning Toyota Rav4. According to the LVMPD statement, Ruggs showed “signs of weakness”.

The woman inside the Toyota Rav4 is presumed dead at the scene. (She was later identified as Tina Tintor, 23.) Ruggs and Kiara Je’nai Kilgo-Washington, his girlfriend and a passenger in his car at the time of the collision, were treated. at a nearby hospital because of “serious” injuries that did not appear to be life-threatening, according to Las Vegas Review Magazine. Ruggs and Kilgo-Washington, who traveled with Rudy Washington, share a young daughter. Washington’s injuries are driving force for additional DUI and reckless driving charges, Review Magazine, Las Vegas Sun and TMZ Sports reported.

After being released from the hospital, Ruggs was transferred to the county jail in downtown Las Vegas.

DUI leads to death charges

During Ruggs’ appearance in court Wednesday morning, Deputy District Attorney Eric Bauman said that Ruggs had was traveling at 156 mph before impact and have a blood alcohol concentration more than double the legal limit. Prosecutors also said that Tintor’s dog was killed in the accident.

Ruggs’ bail was set at $150,000 on Wednesday. The state requested the bail to be set at $1 million. Ruggs has been ordered back to court on November 10.

In Nevada, DUI leading to death is one Class B felony, one of the second most serious crimes in the state. It can carry a sentence of two to 20 years in prison, and probation is not an option after conviction. Reckless driving can result in a prison term of between one and six years.

Ruggs’ attorneys, David Chesnoff and Richard Schonfeld, released the following statement on Tuesday (via Las Vegas Review-Journal): “On behalf of our client, Henry Ruggs III, we are conducting our own investigation as of this writing and asking everyone to reserve judgment until all facts be collected.”

Ruggs is ordered back to court on Monday, November 22 after he missed one of his four daily blood alcohol tests on Saturday, November 13 – one of several that allows him to remain under house arrest. stay at home instead of going to jail while waiting for a court date. Raiders Releases Henry Ruggs III

The Raiders issued a statement on Tuesday afternoon said it was made aware of the crash, adding that the franchise was “devastated by the loss of life and our thoughts and prayers go out to the victim’s family.” Las Vegas later announced that they had released Ruggs.

The NFL also released a statement on Tuesday (via NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero): “Our hearts go out to the family and friends of the victims of this terrible tragedy.
