Even the little things in life can have a huge impact on others. After all, a kind gesture can go a long way. When a security guard extends his kindness to a dog he just met, he never expected it to turn out to be a hero. He just wants to do the right thing.
Ethan Dearman is a security guard at Morrisons. On a particular rainy day, he saw a dog sitting alone in the rain, and he didn’t need to think twice. He knew that dog would want someone to keep him dry.
Dearman approached the dog, it appeared to be a Golden Retriever. The dog looked like it was tied to a post outside while its parents ran inside. It might not have been the safest option for the poor dog, but at least he didn’t get stuck in a hot car. However, the dog did not seem too pleased about the rain.
Without hesitation, Dearman gave the dog his own umbrella. He kept it on the puppy’s head to keep it safe and dry. He feels that the dog needs shelter much more than he does, so he is willing to sacrifice his own comfort to help a struggling dog. The best part of the photo is that the dog looks happy and grateful for Dearman’s kindness.
“Well, you never know how the dogs feel about the rain,” Dearman said.
The act of kindness goes viral
One shopper captured this adorable photo of Dearman’s interaction with the dog. She shared it on Twitter, where it immediately became popular. After just one day, the post had over 96,000 likes and 12,000 shares! Even Dearman shared the post, saying how grateful he is for making others happy.
“Looks like I made a lot of people happy today,” Dearman wrote.
Soon after, people called Dearman a hero and asked him for a raise. Morrisons has responded to some of the comments, so it’s possible that this kind-hearted security guard will get more recognition soon. After all, not every security guard will go above and beyond for a dog in need.
As it turns out, Dearman has always been a big dog lover. He has a small dog named Sanchez, who is currently recovering from a leg injury. He posted an update on Twitter to share that his pet dog is slowly healing. He just makes sure that the puppy has plenty of time to relax in the meantime.
That’s true Not all heroes wear capes. In fact, some heroes wear high visibility vests. Plus, Dearman has proven that being kind to animals is the best way to be a role model. The other security guards could learn a thing or two from him.
