Grieving father takes an elderly dog with cancer to the vet for the last time
No one wants to have say goodbye forever with their best friend. But when given the opportunity, many people want to let their beloved dogs die peacefully instead of fighting with pain. That dreaded moment of acceptance is one that sticks with you for a long time.
On Twitter, Toronto resident Dale Thompson shared her own heartbreaking farewell moment with 14-year-old dog Murphy. Murphy has been battling cancer for a while.
“This is Murphy’s 14th and last Christmas for me. Tragically, the cancer has now passed through his nose and into his throat. I couldn’t do anything but make him comfortable and happy.”
Days after Christmas, Thompson updated his followers with One video Murphy’s was walking slowly down the street. This is his last walk when.
“Murphy walked to the vet today for the last time. He entered with decency, clarity, and honor. He left this world the same way he entered it: With style, grace, and happiness. “
Thompson knew it was time for her best friend in the world to die peacefully. But saying goodbye is not easy. In the end, it was Murphy who comforted him.
“Even in the end, he was happy and when I cried to say goodbye, he tried to get up and leave with me. I can’t tell him enough how sorry I am for doing this and how sorry I am every time I get upset with him or don’t spend enough time with him. He was very happy.”
Longer, more detailed Average postThompson details Murphy’s illness and their final moments together.
“You know that I would take on your cancer if I could. You are an unusual person because not only do you love going to the vet, but you also love getting needles. Your last gesture was to stop me from crying before taking my last breath. I wonder if you understood when I asked you to wait for me on the other side. “
Fortunately, thousands of commenters praised Murphy and kind words for Thompson.
“Went through the same one with my Schuey. He also walked into the vet and I sat on the floor with him until he was okay. Wish they could live longer. Send big hugs. ” – @bethmc1974 via Twitter
“They carry a piece of us as they go. It’s the hardest thing in the world to be strong for them when they tell you it’s their time. ” – @suzannekeith71 via Twitter
Saying goodbye was the hardest part, but it’s great to know this good boy isn’t in pain anymore, and he’s happy through it all.
