Goto Steps Down From Japan Racing Association Roles
In a letter to The Jockey Club and other leading racing entities, the Japan Racing Association said Masayuki Goto had stepped down from his positions as president and CEO.
Masayoshi Yoshida has succeeded Goto as the JRA’s new president and CEO, effective Sept. 12. Yoshida joined JRA in 1983 and became a board member in 2016. He previously oversaw JRA’s corporate planning for many years and held pivotal roles within JRA, including general manager of Chukyo Racecourse and Racing Department, before being appointed as the director of finance and facility in 2016.
Yoshida served as executive director from 2021 and assumed the role of executive vice president in March 2023. The letter noted Yoshida’s strengths include a thorough understanding of JRA’s business strategy and his ability to build positive relationships with stakeholders.
The letter said Goto, who served as JRA president for the past nine years, will continue to play a leading role in JRA’s international fields. He will also maintain his position as vice chair of the International Federation of Horseracing Authorities and the Asian Racing Federation.
