WBC interim middleweight player Sebastian Fundora took on Carlos Ocampo on Saturday night in the Showtime card main event broadcast live from Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California. First, however, was the IBF bantamweight title battle between 14-0 defender Fernando Martinez and 33-2-2 Jerwin Ancajas. The battle, which is a rematch of Martinez’s previous win over Ancajas, is a highly entertaining, high-octane match. However, the final match ended like the first, with Martinez coming out victorious via unanimous decision.

Next, 23-5-2 player Juan Macias-Montel played against Carlos Adames 21-1 in the scheduled 12th round middleweight title match. The first round sees each boxer try to hold his position for a powerful shot. Adames started firing and landed fine in the second. At the end of the inning, the man released tough body shots. Both men traded heavy leather in an exciting third inning. However, by the end of the chapter, it was Adames alone who unleashed the thunderbolts. After tripping over the rope, Montel was soon saved from the referee’s punishment.

It’s time for the main event.

As soon as the opening bell rang, it became clear that 19-0-1 Fundora had taken the lead of 34-1 Ocampo. Indeed, Fundura 6’6 attempted to claim that height advantage through the use of his nampaw swing. The defender continued to use his header in the second, although Ocampo had his moments. The challenger continues to gamble trying to get his man in the third installment. The fight suddenly turns into a fight of words in the fourth part, as the boxers close in and trade in skins.

The fifth installment is nothing short of a fight, with both men fighting furiously over a figurative phonebook. Needless to say Fundura no longer maintains range with his stab. Things slowed down in the sixth round, but the boxers still spent most of their time fighting close-ups. Ocampo looked energetic in season seven while Fundura was finally able to assert itself.

Ocampo continued to swing his arms at Fundura, but it was clear that his punches no longer had the necessary sensitivity. In the end, however, Fundura looked like it was running out of gas. Fundura relied on his size to lean on Campo in season nine. The intrepid Ocampo continued to stalk his man throughout season ten. If he couldn’t get the win in the end, he certainly couldn’t be blamed for not trying.

In round 11, Fundura again managed to maintain range through his footwork and use of his very long jab. Fundura began to effectively use his jab to carry him through the twelfth and final round as much as he could, although he couldn’t help but try to knock it down with his man at times. . Needless to say, Fundura was able to leave the ring victorious thanks to the judges’ scores of 119-109, 117-11 and 118-110.
