For many voters, the old stigma about voting for the far right is gone. After being harassed by Mr. Macron in 2017, Ms Le Pen renamed her National Front the National Rally, even as many of her policies remained largely unchanged. She also proved more moderate than far-right rival candidate Eric Zemmour.
