In a May 10 interview with The New York Times on the occasion of the film’s 20th anniversary, Curtis shared that she initially started thinking about a sequel during a “Halloween Ends” press tour. “People want to know if there’s going to be another ‘Freaky Friday’. Something that really hits a chord,” she said. “When I got back, I called my friends at Disney and said, ‘It feels like a movie is going to be made.'”

Lohan also seems to be wholeheartedly supporting the idea, but while Curtis may have started pulling the strings, the former says she’ll leave the final decision up to the studio. “Jamie and I are both open to that, so we’ll just leave it in our hands,” she told the Times. “We’re just going to do something that people will absolutely love.”
