Former Masters champion Adam Scott becomes latest PGA Tour star to join TGL run by Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy

Adam Scott has become the latest player to commit to Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy’s TMRW Golf League (TGL). Joining the two founders, as well as Jon Rahm and Justin Thomas, Scott is expected to become the first international player to take part in the Monday night simulator tournament scheduled to begin in January 2024. .

“Tiger has pushed golf to a standard never seen before, and everyone is continuing to move forward. Now, in the position he is in, let him stand up and speak up for the PGA Tour. , I think that’s really powerful,” Scott said Sports Illustrated. “We’ve never seen Tiger ‘sub’ much in his career. That’s fair enough, he’s a competitor and he cares about what he’s doing. Now, he he’s showing his emotions about things.. Creating something like TGL with Rory is just another example of how he’s impacting the game. That’s it, it’s going to have an impact no matter what.”

Scott’s inclusion in the TGL will be his latest chapter alongside Woods. The 42-year-old has seen some of Woods’ greatest achievements emerge from the same era but certainly not without his own. Winning the 2013 Masters, Scott defeated Woods later that summer at The Barclays.

The following season, Scott rose to world No. 1, usurping Woods and eventually holding the top spot for 11 weeks. In total, Scott has won 31 professional victories, 14 of which were on the PGA Tour with the most recent being at the 2020 Genesis Invitational hosted by Woods. At this point in his career, Scott understands that his best golf may be behind him, but that doesn’t stand in the way of his star power.

“I’ve seen an uptick in simulator golf when I’m traveling outside of the United States, particularly through Asia,” said Scott. “There are tournaments where thousands of people compete against each other… Seeing how quickly it is received abroad, TGL would really compliment everything I’m seeing and it sure It will certainly have a huge impact on the names behind it.

“I think this is a really great opportunity for me at this point in my career, I really like the fact that it attracts the biggest names to date and I was able to argue. with these superstar players.”

TGL will feature six teams of three PGA Tour players and a schedule that includes the regular 15 games of the season. Players will perform full hits on the simulator while short in-game hits will take place in front of fans in a newly built arena on the grounds of the Palm Beach State. Matches are expected to last two hours as TGL wants to harness the excitement behind high-paced golf. With the remaining 13 spots yet to be announced, many big names are sure to follow.
