Spokesperson for Mr. Mahathir Mohamad, the former prime minister of Malaysia, was taken to hospital.
The spokesman said Mahathir had been admitted to the cardiac care unit at the National Heart Institute but did not give details.
This is the second time the 96-year-old, still an active legislator, has been hospitalized this month.
He was discharged from the hospital following what was described as a successful elective medical procedure last week.
At the time, the National Heart Institute did not say what procedure Mahathir, who has a history of heart disease, had undergone.
He was hospitalized and discharged in December after his doctors said they were satisfied with the results of the necessary investigations.
