While Ford Ranger And Mount Everest are close cousins, when it comes to variants and special editions, the pickup is getting all the fun. While the Ranger can be had in Platinum, StormTrak and of course Baja ready raptor The only new model the Everest has received since its launch two years ago is Wild Trail – and even that has been a longtime Ranger staple.

Now, however, the SUV is getting a little Raptor-style love in the form of the Tremor, which has just been revealed in Australia. While it doesn’t go as far as the mighty Ranger, it does at least embody some of that truck’s go-anywhere aesthetic.

Like the Wildtrak, the Tremor swaps the Everest’s sleek front bumper for a more rugged Ranger unit (this time from the standard model), with the middle and lower sections given a dark matte finish to give it the Raptor look. This finish has been extended to the wheel arch extensions and side steps, while a steel guard has also been added.

Meanwhile, the hexagonal grille is also finished in matte black and comes with auxiliary lights inside the horizontal bar that feeds into the headlights. Inside, you’ll find a minimalist black cabin with Tremor-embossed leather seats and waterproof floor mats.

The changes aren’t just skin deep – the Tremor gets position-sensing Bilstein dampers for added support at both ends of the suspension travel, along with new springs and General Grabber AT3 all-terrain tyres wrapped around 17-inch matte black six-spoke alloy wheels. All of this gives the SUV an extra 26mm of ground clearance over the standard Everest.

Powering the Everest Tremor is a 3.0-litre V6 turbodiesel engine that produces 250PS at 3,250rpm and 600Nm of torque from 1,750rpm to 2,250rpm. All this power is sent through a ten-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive, with the Tremor featuring an exclusive Rock Crawl mode that optimises traction and momentum on rough and rocky surfaces.

Available only in Command Grey, the Everest Tremor is priced at AU$76,590 (RM225,600) and can be optioned with the Touring Pack, Premium Seat Pack, Tow Pack and Rough Terrain Pack, the latter of which adds ARB accessories like the Stealth Bar front bumper. There’s no indication of when (if ever) it will arrive in Malaysia, but judging by previous Ranger special editions, we can expect to wait around a year.
