Fisker is pointing to supplier problems as the reason behind the slow production of its Ocean electric SUV.
The company on Friday reported that only 1,022 Oceans were produced in the second quarter at contractor Magna’s facility in Austria. This includes a combination of a customer’s car and a vehicle intended for “engineering and marketing purposes,” a Fisker press release said.
Ocean’s launch rate is very slow. Production started on time in November 2022, but deliveries didn’t start until Six months later. Those first cars arrived in Europe; US delivery will start on June 19.

In a release announcing Q2 total production, Fisker said some suppliers “had difficulty meeting their target levels in the second quarter, as they did not receive components from sub-suppliers in a timely manner.” timely.”
“The company is focused on working with all suppliers to achieve the required quantities,” the statement said. “Fisker has already exceeded its target assembly rate of 80 units per day and expects production to exceed 1,400 units by early July.”
The automaker also said it will invest in additional battery pack capacity, supporting “a higher number of vehicles than originally anticipated next year.” Fisker also teased the idea of replaceable battery but haven’t gone into detail yet.

The news follows the arrival of what appears to be a more detailed rendering of Fisker’s Project Ronin electric sports car. The renderings appear on a Fisker enthusiast Instagram page, but not on the company’s official site. Project Ronin announced in 2022, targeting launch in 2024.
In May, the company significantly lowered its expectations for 2023 and delay Pear EV next model — although it did introduce a topographical version of Ocean.
