Coming to you from Nathan Elson, this amazing video will show you how he lights up and shoots a series of portraits with various lights and adjustments. One thing I found particularly interesting was the way Elson used a lot of behind-the-scenes lighting with slightly different angles and positions. Scripts are used to soften the lights and usually you just put a light behind them, adjust to your preference and you’re done with that aspect. But as Elson details, he was particularly interested in making sure the exceptional lighting was spread throughout the scenario to create a particularly large and even source, and I think his interest was valid, because the results speak for themselves. Watch the video above for a full rundown of the lighting setup from Elson.
