The oneworld alliance is getting a new official member in the South Pacific. Oneworld leaders announced Monday that next year, Fiji Airways will become a full member of the global alliance.
Meanwhile, Oman Air — headquartered in Muscat, Oman — is expected to join the alliance within the next few months, about two years later carrier has been announced as the newest future alliance member.
Together, these two airlines will deliver 15% growth for Oneworld, one of the three major airline alliances globally. It features American airlines American Airlines and Alaska Airlines along with foreign partners such as British Airways, Iberia, Qatar Airways, Cathay Pacific and Japan Airlines, among others.

Fiji participates fully in Oneworld
As the national airline of Fiji and the South Pacific, Fiji Airways has been a Oneworld Connect partner for more than five years.
Under this agreement, the carrier gained some limited reciprocity benefits with every Oneworld member airline and enjoyed closer working relationships with sponsors, including U.S. partners and Oneworld are British Airways, Cathay Pacific and Qantas.
But now the Nadi, Fiji-based carrier will strengthen its relationships with all carriers in the Oneworld alliance. That means more ways to earn miles, take advantage of elite status perks, and enjoy member lounge access to any Oneworld partner loyalty program – from American Airlines Advantages ARRIVE Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan ARRIVE British Airways Executive Club and more.
“As a full Oneworld member airline, Fiji Airways will offer Oneworld Emerald, Sapphire and Ruby customers the full range of Oneworld benefits,” the alliance said in a statement on Monday. This includes earning and redeeming miles, earning status points, benefiting from priority check-in and boarding, and lounge access.
The same goes for Fiji Airways Tabua Club members flying with Oneworld partners.

New choice for Oneworld loyalists
The change means there are more options for Oneworld loyalists who want to visit Fiji for a holiday or take advantage of connectivity in the South Pacific.
This arrangement will offer new opportunities to earn miles in the Oneworld program of your choice when flying with Fiji or booking flights on Fiji using miles from your favorite Oneworld frequent flyer program.

Fiji operates a fleet of 21 aircraft, including wide-body Airbus A330 and A350 aircraft – all configured in business and economy classes. The airline flies to 26 destinations worldwide, including Los Angeles via Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and San Francisco via San Francisco International Airport (SFO) on the US mainland.
You can also fly with the airline to other prominent Oneworld hub cities such as Sydney, Hong Kong and Tokyo.
Does Fiji Airways have lounges?
It is worth noting Fiji’s flagship Premier Lounge at Nadi International Airport (NAN), which is highly rated. In addition to being an attractive option for Oneworld partners, in the future it will also be available for Priority card member and ranked among TPG Best Priority Pass lounges worldwide since April.
When will Fiji Airways join Oneworld?
Fiji Airways will begin the transition to Oneworld immediately, the alliance said on Monday. Expected to become an official member within a year.
When will Oman Air join Oneworld?
More than two years after Oman Air was announced as a new alliance member, we are closer to a firmer timetable for joining the global alliance. The carrier expects full participation by 2024, the alliance said Monday.
Since the year is almost half over, that means it will appear in the next few months.
