Stanley’s personality was evident from the start, and certainly different. However, this is something a little unusual and the quirks are a bit unsettling. Stanley’s parents adopted him but began to worry about their dog soon after. Stanley, one golden retriever, quite friendly, lovable and physically healthy; however, there seems to be more to his story.
Stanley was rescued from Rescue the Golden Retriever in Mid-Florida and has been known to be a bit unusual. When they picked him up from the foster home, he was sleeping on the table.

However, they quickly fall in love with Stanley despite his quirks and decide to take him home. Stanley immediately got along with their kids and other pets.

But Stanley’s parents became worried about their new dog. In the past, they had succeeded in training other dogs, but Stanley was different. They were worried he might get injured climbing on the counters and tables.

Stanley is not deaf, but he never reacts when his name is called. Two coaches were hired but eventually abandoned him. And people think dogs can be mentally challenged.
The family took this seriously and studied his behavior patterns even more. They discovered a obsessive compulsion routine where Stanley would repeatedly collect a slipper, remote control, and stuffed animal together every day.

They decided to test Stanley with a dog IQ test they heard from a friend, and he failed to get out of bed, answer his name, and find food in a cup.

The vet agreed with the assessment and said the dog’s challenges could be due to inbreeding and stubbornness.

It may never be revealed why exactly Stanley acted the way he did, but that’s not something his family should worry about. He is physically healthy and surrounded by so much love!

“He may be a little slow, but his silly quirks, good nature and slightly quirky personality make us love him even more.”
You have to love that Stanley is leading a fair life despite his challenges. Every dog deserves love and happiness!
