Just last week, we heard that Takaya Imamura was getting ready to release his movie. first comic, Omega 6, after years of working on iconic art for Nintendo. This news gets even more exciting today, as we’re told that Imamura is working on bringing a version of his manga universe to the Switch game next year (thanks, gemstone).

Omega 6: Video Games – we’ve heard more creative titles in the past, we admit – will see Imamura return as art director, while Happymeal studios prepare to work on the development side of things .

Imamura’s manga (currently available in French only) follows two bounty hunters sent on a quest to find a planet that could replace Earth. The video game is set to include the original main characters – Thunder and Kaira – although it will differ from the written story, introducing new characters and plot rhythms that those who have read the manga will do not know.

Happymeal has stated that the game will be released in 2023 and even released the image above showing the development of the game so far. Imamura also teased some more 16-bit art styles in a tweet following the game’s official announcement (below). While there’s not much to go on so far, those classic images still excite us.

Omega 6: The Video Game will take the form of a text adventure game set in Imamura’s manga universe, although this core text focus will also allow for some fight scenes throughout.

While the manga is currently only available in French, the game is set to support English, French, and Japanese language options and is scheduled for a worldwide release.
