Thanks to its three-metre wheelbase, the lounge-like interior can accommodate five people in absolute comfort, and there’s even room for Premium Recliners in the front, which fold out into a lie-flat position at the touch of a button.
Other cool features include a sliding Universal Island storage panel, dual 12.3-inch displays with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 3.6kW vehicle-to-vehicle (V2L) outlet under the rear seat to charge all your gadgets, and a seven-speaker Bose audio system. The Ioniq 5’s performance is also near the top of its class, with the available dual-motor powertrain producing 305PS and 605Nm of torque, helping it accelerate from 0-62mph in 5.2 seconds.
A battery capacity of up to 72.6 kWh provides a range of up to 430 km on the WLTP cycle, and a standout feature that continues to stand out is the 800-volt electrical architecture, which, after two years, is still a rarity in Malaysia. It enables super-fast charging speeds – plug the Ioniq 5 up to a 350 kW DC fast charger and you’ll see the battery charged from 10 to 80 per cent in just 18 minutes.
All models come equipped with Hyundai SmartSense, which offers Level 2 semi-autonomous driving features like Smart Cruise Control with Stop & Go and Lane Following Assist (LFA). Unsurprisingly, the Ioniq 5 also won the 2022 World Car of the Year and 2022 World Electric Car of the Year awards, cementing its status as not just one of the best electric cars on the market, but one of the best cars, period.
