Eubank Jr pulled in the birthday cake and sent a special message to Benn
Looks like Chris Eubank Jr is in for one of the most scrutinized yet comfortable weight loss in boxing history, but it’s his birthday anyway…
Less than a week after his fight with Conor Benn was questioned by his father, who threatened to pull him out because cutting the weight down to 157lbs is potentially dangerous. However, Eubank Jr is undeterred and confirmed the October 8 clash at the O2 in London will go ahead as planned.
The boxer, who is aiming to be underweight in his career so he can move forward without risking fines or cancellations, is 33 years old today. There are only a handful of reasons why one might be denied cake on their special day – unfortunately, cutting the weight for a professional boxing match is one of them.
Eubank Jr does not accept such thoughts. In his latest video from what some call mind games, he stuffed a birthday cake next to a large ‘60% chocolate. ‘

Those who have watched the construction process know that 60% does not mention how many cakes Eubank intends to eat – no, that number could be 100%. Rather, it’s the level of performance he believes he’ll get into the ring and the appropriate level of effort needed, he said, let him defeat Benn convincingly.
On the other end of the scale, Benn is intent on gaining weight. After fighting all of his pro bouts at the welding weight limit of 147lbs, he will aim to add about 10lbs if he wants to enter the ring similar to his opponent. With that in mind, perhaps Eubank Jr can share a piece of his cake before the proceedings begin.
With 19 more days to go before the first bell rings and all talking and eating stops, it is still unclear who will be the voice in Eubank’s corner. He wants that duty to fall to his father, but given Senior’s adamantness in dismissing it, that seems unlikely.
Maybe it’s thinking for tomorrow like tonight, he celebrates. Lots of happy profits, Chris.
