It’s been a good year for Ducati. Amidst several quarters of record new bike sales and aftermarket parts sales doing even more so, the purely Italian motoring company has finally officially presented its new racing bike. Last October, the company announced that it would take over as sole bike supplier for the all-electric MotoE series, and in April 2022 the bike was finally delivered. announced before entering the race track in fury next season. Here it is, Ducati V21L.
Currently, Ducati also does not have any official plans to offer an electric motorcycle on the street. Here’s hoping that BEV racing bikes will focus on a wide range of streets and tracks machine from Borgo Panigale.
Apparently the bike has been tested since at least December, but this is the first public look at the new machine. Ducati already has a number of photographers in the role of factory racers Michele Pirro and Alex de Angelis conducted several follow-up tests. The results of the test are closely guarded secrets, but luckily the company released some photos and videos during the day, so it was at least mildly successful. There’s definitely a lot more work to be done before the race starts next season, but it’s probably going to be mostly setup and electronics from here on in.
Just listen to the sound of that machine in full conversation. If you’ve ever ridden an electric bike, you know that the gears and hum of an EV bike’s engine are truly unique. Personally, I like the sound of the Harley LiveWire when I actually hit the gas. It was a visceral lewd scream that really made my blood boil.
For comparison, here’s the bike on the road. Italian company Energica has supplied MotoE racing bikes since its founding a few years ago, but it’s clear that Ducati doesn’t have the name or cachet of Ducati for motorcycle enthusiasts. You tell me, sound better with Energica or German?
