Top speed of World Superbike
by Yamaha Toprak Razgatlioglu set the fastest lap time at this week’s World Superbike Test event at Jerez lead Kawasaki’s Jonathan Rea but over the speed trap, Ducati completely dominated.
On the final day of the test, the top 40 top speeds were all set by Ducati riders.
Tiny Alvaro Bautista was the highest rated but Ducati teammate Michael Rinaldi also scored three of the top 40 speeds recorded on the final day of the test, 37 of the top 40 being in about Bautista.
Bautista’s highest top speed recorded is 279.4 km/h while Rinaldi’s fastest is 276 km/h.
Bautista registered over 275 km/h in 21 of his 86 laps and hit 274 km/h in another 10 of them.
American Garrett Gerloff is the third fastest driver in a Bonovo BMW with a best lap time of 272.3 km/h ahead of KRT’s Alex Lowes (271.6 km/h) and Barni Ducati’s Danilo Petrucci (271, 2 km/h).
The fastest Yamaha to overcome the speed trap was Andrea Locatelli with a top speed of 268.6 km/h. The fastest Honda is the Xavi Vierge with a speed of 269.1 km/h.
The fastest world Supersport machine to get through the traps on Thursday was Ducati’s Niccolo Bulega at 240.3 km/h.
