Donald Trump ‘Safe’ After Shooting at Pennsylvania Rally, Suspect and Attendee Dead


Former President Donald Trump was escorted off stage by Secret Service during a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania on Saturday afternoon. According to Richard GoldingerButler County District Attorney, a man believed to be the shooter was killed by law enforcement after the attack, which left at least one protester dead. In a statement, Trump spokesman Steven Truong said Trump was “fine and being evaluated at a local medical facility.”

The GOP front-runner had only been speaking for a few minutes when witnesses said they heard gunshots. Video from the scene showed the former president falling to the ground and being restrained by Secret Service agents. As he was carried away from the scene, Trump grimaced and struck a defiant pose, raising his fist toward the crowd. Blood could be seen near one of his ears.

Secret Service Spokesperson Anthony Guglielmi said in a statement that the former president was “safe” and would only say that “an incident occurred” at the rally. “This is an ongoing Secret Service investigation and more details will be released as they become available,” Guglielmi said.

While the Secret Service is leading the investigation, the ATF, FBI and the Department of Justice are being briefed on the situation, federal officials said.
