Dog saves her family from a bear attack
Dogs are amazing for so many reasons. One thing that has always resonated with me is that they give us their entire lives, while being present for only a part of us.
However, deep relationships can be made during that time. To get to the heart of the matter, a Reddit poster request their fellow users an interesting hypothesis:
“Do you want to cut 5 years of your own life and give these to your dog? If so, why? ”
U/Experimentality had a well-deserved answer, detailing the time his 15-year-old dog Daisy, an English bulldog, saved his and his family’s lives:
“Me and my family are vacationing at a cabin in Maine,” he wrote. “Caught by a bear while walking up from the lake after dark. Can’t tell it’s a bear until it stands up and the motion light comes on. It was more than six feet between us and the cabin. It falls forward [sic] forefoot, hunched. It makes a noise like a dinosaur.”
Suddenly, Daisy “attacked from behind the bear. I am in tears thinking about it,” he added. “I let the kids run into the cabin, grabbed my rifle, and spent the next five minutes running through dark woods, trying to follow the sounds of my dog growling and an angry bear. The growling stopped and I could hear bears running through the woods.” His heart was racing, he kept searching. In the meantime, he fears the worst.
“It took two hours to find Daisy after the bear ran away,” he concluded. “She had fractures along the sides of the road, broken hip bones and broken legs. She was curled up next to a tree with her tail slamming against the ground. Her white coat comes in all shades of red and pink. “
Thanks to her family’s fearless protection, Daisy bought them enough time to get to safety. She saved their lives, for which the poster was grateful, but was taken by surprise. “This dog is afraid of Swiffer,” he added. “I love her so much. I owe Daisy 3 lives, 5 years.”
Luckily, Daisy recovered from the attack and continues to be a very nice girl! One redditor requested an update, eager to know how she’s doing:
“Yes, she is still working around,” the poster replied. “She no longer walks due to injury and old age. Just give her a piece of pork. She needs a bath.”
Thankfully, Daisy not only saved her family, but recovered and continues to live in a home filled with love and respect!
