Detroit Lions to be featured in ‘Hard Knocks’ for 2022 training camp, HBO and NFL Films announce
PALM BEACH, Fla. – The Detroit Lion will be the featured team in the 2022 training camp edition of “Hard Knocks,” according to an announcement Monday by HBO and NFL Films to league owners at their annual meeting.
Drawing on NFL rules to ensure a partnership with the program, the Lions were one of three teams that couldn’t turn down an invitation from the documentary series that followed NFL teams throughout training camp. The other two are Carolina Panthers and New York Jets.
A major part of the Lion’s charm was coach Dan Campbell, whose colorful press conferences and unique aphorisms brought intrigue and excitement to his 3-13 debut. with the Lions last season.
In a statement, Lions president and CEO Rod Wood said: “We’re excited about the opportunity to showcase the City of Detroit and the amazing culture we’re building at Lions. HBO Sports and NFL Films are the best of the best, and we know they will be great partners in sharing our stories with football fans around the world. .”
The Lions will be the 15th NFL team to have appeared in a “Hard Knocks” season. The Dallas Cowboys appeared three times, including last year, while Los Angeles Rams and Cincinnati Bengals did it twice per person.
Last fall, Indianapolis Colts was the theme of the version in the first season of the show. It is unclear whether that format will be republished in 2022.
