Topaz Labs recently released its all-in-one Photo AI suite that magically removes noise, sharpens and increases resolution with just one click. But how does it compare to its own individual products, in this case DeNoise AI?
If you’re not familiar with Topaz Labs’ retouching products, they’ve long been at the top of the tree for noise correction and sharpening. Until a little while ago, Topaz Labs products were separate, where you got DeNoise AI, Sharpen AI and Gigapixel AI. The first two are self-explanatory in terms of what they do, while Gigapixel AI adds resolution to images, which can really come in handy if you want to print images at large sizes. You can (and still can) buy them all separately or buy them as part of a package. If you purchased them as a bundle, you still have to use them independently of each other. However, Topaz Labs recently released Photo AI, which is an all-in-one software that removes noise, sharpens and increases resolution with just one click. It sounds great, but how does it compare when used with its own individual products?
That brings us to this great video by Anthony Morganti, in which he pits the new Photo AI against the DeNoise AI, to see which performs better at removing noise. It’s a fascinating experiment, simply because it pits one company’s products against each other. Whatever the outcome, you can only infer that there must be some form of cannibalism going on. If Photo AI appears at the top, does it make DeNoise AI completely redundant? And if DeNoise AI wins, does that mean Topaz Labs wasted time on the new Photo AI?
