Damar Hamlin thanks the medical team for saving his life

Buffalo Bills player Damar Hamlin is on his way to recovery from a cardiac arrest during a game against the Cincinnati Bengals in January. However, Hamlin did not give all praise for his recovery. And is shining the spotlight on the medical team that saved his life.

Damar Hamlin Thanked His Medical Team at NFL Honors

The annual NFL Honors awards ceremony often recognizes the best players and performances of the league. However, this year’s awards ceremony highlighted the extraordinary medical team that saved the 24-year-old’s life.

Actor Sheryl Lee Ralph introduced Damar Hamlin and his team of first responders to the home crowd as well as in-house celebrities and NFL guests. The crowd greeted the group with a standing ovation. Then Hamlin took the microphone.

First of all, I just want to thank God for being here… Sudden cardiac arrest is not something I ever chose to be part of my story. But that’s because sometimes, our vision is too small… My vision is to play in the NFL and be the best player I can be.

But God’s plan is to have a greater purpose than any game in this world.

Hamlin continued by saying he has a “long journey ahead.” And added that it will be filled with “unknowns” and “milestones”.

But it’s a lot easier to face your fears when you know your purpose.

Hamlin went on to recount his interactions with a hospital doctor who had similar medical experience. And how it has affected his life.

The 24-year-old thanked the first responders who stood around him as he spoke. And pull them all together for a group hug.

I want to give a special thank you to everyone on this stage for everything they’ve done for me. And thank you to everyone around the world who prayed for me and hoped for me. The journey will continue.

Hamlin’s philanthropic efforts and progress since discharge

As People reported, Hamlin is expected to return to the pitch soon. Dr Thom Mayer, medical director of the NFL Players Association, gave NFL fans a special update on Hamlin’s future during an appearance on the SiriusXM radio show.

I don’t want to get into HIPAA problems, but I can assure you that Damar Hamlin will play professional football again.

Since the end of his 3-week hospital stay, Hamlin has continued his partnership with the American Heart Association. And created “3 For the Heart” challenge, as reported by TMZ. Buffalo Bills players announced the partnership via Instagram.

As previously reported by the Shade Room, Hamlin suffered a cardiac arrest and collapsed during a game between the Buffalo Bills and the Cincinnati Bengals in January. Hamlin was given CPR and then taken to UC Medical Center. From there, he was transferred to the Buffalo facility for further treatment and released after three weeks. Since then, Hamlin has expressed immense gratitude to those who helped him through the life-changing experience.
