Metal Max: Wild West may have Canceledbut like one of its tough survivors, Metal Max series continues. Granblue Fantasy developer Cygames has acquired the rights to the series from Kadokawa Games, announcement of pick up on July 29, 2022. Along with IP, series creator Hiroshi Miyaoka also moved to Cygames to continue leading the franchise as game director. With producer Kenichiro Takaki (creator of Kandagawa Jet Girls and manufacturer on Senran Kagura), Miyaoka will lead the development of a new, console-based title in the franchise.
Currently, the game doesn’t actually have a name Metal Max Project. Cygames released a logo for the project featuring pixel-style renders of various kinds Metal Max main characters.
Cygames’ announcement pledges to “create a new future” for the 30-year-old series. Miyaoka said that the transfer of rights represents a great opportunity for Metal Max. He thanked Cygames for choosing the IP and Kadokawa Games agreed to send it.
Currently, Miyaoka says that development on Cygames Metal Max the title is still in the “just an illusion” stage, but they hope that what they put together will “touch the hearts” of both Metal Max fans and RPG fans in general. For his part, Takagi talked about his familiarity with the series, since his school days.
