Have you ever jumped around Voids and wondered what it would be like if there were giant donuts, eyeballs and dragons? Or maybe it’s just us. The good news is that all of that and many other silly items are available in Void Maker for your enjoyment.
As we developed Void Maker, we realized the tool had a lot of potential beyond just generating levels like Voids in the main game. In the end, we added more content than we originally intended to include, such as NPCs, enemies, themes, playlists, etc. We feel that all of this allows You create levels where everything is possible!
Learn your tools
Void Maker features a lot of content from the main game, including NPCs, drum models, and more, but it also has lots of new items created specifically for the level creator itself (models, music, mechanics and lots of other crazy stuff!).
This may sound overwhelming, but we developed Void Maker as a simplified level maker so you can focus on making fun and exciting levels rather than having to learn a few tricks. complex software and modifying new content into the game.
Tips for creating fun levels
There are many ways to start designing, the most obvious of which is to randomly test things and experiment or have something specific you want to create. Either way it’s perfectly fine. Since we know a thing or two about making Voids, we’re going to share some tips to help you make great Voids.
- Specify the type of level you want to create. Want a simple platforming challenge, a puzzle-like adventure, or a story-driven level with NPCs? Knowing the basic idea of what you want the end product to be is a great start.
- Consider the art options and think about what you want your Void to look like. This helps you understand which items to use.
- Think how hard you want the foundation to be.
Not all of these factors need to be determined in the first place — and that’s okay and normal! But the more that is defined, the better.
After or during the development of the concept of leveling comes implementation. This is a slow and non-linear process that may vary from level to level, but overall should look like this:
- Block the basics with simple shapes and mechanics
- Repeat that
- More art
- Polish
- And finally quality check
New Voids to conquer
Void Maker includes an original 24 Void pack to master — created by fans and some members of Robi Studios! Due to limitations, you will not be able to share and download levels online.
Blue Fire: Void Maker DLC will be available for free on PS4 and PS5 on November 1.
