North Queensland GP practices leverage AI for MyMedicare registration

Joint operations under the North Queensland Primary Health Network have applied AI technology to increase voluntary patient registration into MyMedicare.

NQPHN recently partnered with health technology company Healthily to provide GP practices across North Queensland with GoShare Voice technology to assist in identifying and reaching patients eligible for MyMedicare registration. The AI-based tool also enables automated outbound phone calls with patients who have not initially responded to SMS invitations to MyMedicare to further discuss enrollment options and allow them to ask questions.

MyMedicare is the federal government’s voluntary patient registration model that aims to formalize the relationship between patients, family physicians, and primary care teams.

With funding from NQPHN’s MyMedicare Mini Continuous Quality Improvement Program, the adoption of GoShare Voice will also assist GPs in preparing forpending changes to the chronic disease management categories subsidized under the Medicare Benefits Program in November.

Austin Health’s Virtual Clinic is now operating normally

Austin Health’s technology-based home care service, piloted in 2021 through federal government funding, is now operating “business as usual.”

The hospital in the Home & Virtual Care Zone can now accommodate up to 10 patients at a time, with a focus on high clinical status patients such as cardiovascular and hematology patients. They are monitored with a watch or patch and seen in near real time by the hospital care team via teleconference calls.

In February, Virtual Rooms began integrating data from wearable devices into the EMR, enhancing patient data management.
