A two-year-old was left orphaned after both his mother and father were killed when a rooftop sniper opened fire during a July 4 parade in Chicago.
Irina McCarthy, 35, and Kevin McCarthy, 37, were among at least seven people killed in Monday’s attack, with about 50 people also suffering from gunshot wounds and other injuries.
Their toddler, Aiden, was separated from his parents in the chaos of take a shot.
A fundraising page said the boy was later returned to his grandparents.
Irina Colon, who organized the GoFundMe page with the family’s permission, wrote: “He will have a long way to go to cure his illness.
She added that Aiden’s grandparents will take care of him.
To date, the fund has raised nearly $1.4 million (£1.17 million).

“On behalf of his family and with their permission, I will be setting up this fundraiser to support him and his carers who will be tasked with raising, caring for and supporting Aiden as he and his support system embark on this unexpected journey.”
