Chase will open Sapphire Lounge in Los Angeles, its 10th confirmed location

Chase is quickly catching up in the race for the most extensive network of credit card-branded airport lounges.

On Thursday, the publisher shared its intention to bring a new outpost to The Club’s Chase Sapphire Lounge at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).

The new LAX lounge will be near the west gate of Tom Bradley International Terminal, adjacent to Gate 148.

All terminals at LAX connected to the airport (post-security), so theoretically any traveler could visit this new outpost. That said, getting to TBIT can be tricky, depending on the station you depart from.

Chase didn’t share too many details about the new lounge other than confirming that it will be 9,234 square feet. It’s definitely on the smaller scale, especially for an airport the size of LAX, so I’m totally willing to join the waitlist to get a seat.

The publisher promises more updates as construction progresses, but this space still seems very far away.

When it opens, it will compete with the existing American Express Centurion Lounge, which opened in 2020 at TBIT. The Amex lounge is nearly 14,000 square feet and can accommodate just over 500 guests.

Based on the renderings, the Chase lounge appears to have views of the airport with plenty of natural light, something noticeably missing from the Amex’s interior location.

Interestingly, Chase’s facade entrance drawing shows the concourse at the outside station location, but that may just be a diagram replaced by TBIT.

The Los Angeles outpost will become one of the publisher’s most popular locations. Chase has opened a lounge Boston Logan International Airport (BOS), Hong Kong International Airport (HKG), Dulles International Airport (IAD) and in both New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK). And LaGuardia Airport (LGA). In fact, the two-story LGA location is perhaps the nicest credit card-branded lounge in the nation.

In addition to existing locations, Chase also has a stacking system of upcoming vacancies (confirmed)include:

  • Harry Reid International Airport (LAS)
  • Philadelphia International Airport (PHL)
  • Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX)
  • San Diego International Airport (SAN)

The expansion comes as the airport lounge wars heat up. Amex has long had exclusive rights to the Centurion Lounge network which first launched in 2013. Since then, Amex has Expand network nationwide.

Capital One already launches first lounge at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) in 2021. The publisher now has a total of three locations — Denver International Airport (DEN) And Washington Dulles has joined DFW – and one thing has been confirmed is in the process of being deployed at JFK.

Capital One is also building smaller The “landing” focuses on eating and drinking at LGA and at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA), the first of which is expected to open soon.

As for Chase, the issuer was the last of the big three to open a lounge. Its Hong Kong outpost welcomed its first flyers in 2022.

That said, the issuer has grown rapidly and its impressive facilities combine with many of the amenities most requested by travellers.
