Chase Lounge at the US Open

One of the hottest spots at the Open is the Chase Lounge. It’s open from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. for day sessions and from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. for evening sessions. It will remain open throughout the US Open through September 8 and can be found on the second floor of the Chase Center.

Among the amenities (if you can find a desirable location) are air conditioning and plenty of space to relax and cool off.

Inside there are plenty of places to relax between games, along with food, drinks, and plenty of other fun and sightseeing activities. Upon entering, you will find yourself in a large space with several interconnected rooms.

You’ll find plenty of seating areas and great views from floor-to-ceiling windows.

The toilets were nice and there was no queue when I was there, which is always a plus.

I love that the broadcast center will be streaming ESPN moments live throughout the US Open.

The friendly staff are always ready to serve you a drink or greet you and I found everyone to be helpful.

There was fresh fruit and coffee (both cold and hot from Lavazza) the morning I was there. There was also free lemonade, iced tea, and iced water. You won’t be getting a full meal here, but it will give you a little energy on the go.

There are also complimentary snacks like fruit cups and pastries in the morning, soft drinks, and a variety of alcoholic beverages—though they’re not free. Domestic beers are $15 and Heineken is $15.50. Napa Cellars Chardonnay, Daou Rosé, and Franciscan Estate Sauvignon Blanc are all $19. Cocktails from Grey Goose or Dobe Ace start at $21.

Don’t forget to grab a free Chase branded baseball cap, pair of socks or a tote bag and head to the back of the lounge to have your name embroidered on it when you arrive.

This is a fun moment, although you have to be prepared to wait in line. You can get the item later from the shelf in front.

This time when I went, the waiting room wasn’t crowded, but as you can see in the photos from 2023, the waiting room can get very crowded at times.

How to Get into the Chase Lounge at the US Open

I actually prefer the Chase Terrace over the Chase Lounge because it’s outdoors and has a great view of the tennis courts. Of course, it wasn’t too hot when I was there, so your experience may be different.

Access is reserved for Chase cardholders on a first-come, first-served basis.

You will check in on the ground floor, get your wristband and go upstairs. Chase Terrace will be on your left.

The terrace is located on an outdoor seating area with sweeping views of the three tennis courts and a couple of cash bars. Grandstands allow people to sit and watch the games. Free lemonade, iced tea and water are also available.

There’s a full bar here, with mixed drinks for purchase. Drinks include the Grey Goose Honey Deuce for $23, or you can get 20% off a signature drink from Chase partner Dobel Ace—the Dobel Spicy Margarita for $17.60.

There is also a refreshment bar offering grab-and-go snacks like Skinny Pop popcorn.

Another very popular feature is the IHG branded amenity bar.

Guests can choose a gift from the bar, including a fan, hand sanitizer, Evian mineral spray or even high-end La Roche-Posay sunscreen.

There are also a few shady areas with soft cushioned benches. Last year, I heard a woman say she really felt like a VIP in this space. Indeed, I would happily spend a few hours here.

You don’t need to book in advance to get into the terrace and it doesn’t close between day and evening sessions. It’s open from 10am to 8pm. Again, a great place to catch a game or two.

There are several Chase-branded areas along the way to the Chase Terrace entrance, including a “Magic ATM” that dispenses souvenirs instead of money. Prizes include fanny packs, sunglasses, fans, seat upgrades and more.’

There’s also a great feature that lets you pretend you just won the US Open. We had TPG’s Caroline Tanner try it out and it left everyone smiling.

Chase Charging Centers

Another cool feature from Chase is the charging hubs, where you can text a code to Chase and receive a fully charged power bank to keep your phone going all day. A charger pops up after you text the number on the screen. When you’re done, you’re asked to drop it off at one of the many stations that look like large blue mailboxes throughout the grounds. You’ll find these charging hubs all over the US Open grounds and in the main concourse.

Chase Sapphire at Seaport

If you can’t make it to Queens but want a taste of the experience, Chase has created another lounge on the rooftop of Pier 17 in Manhattan’s Seaport neighborhood. The lounge features seasonal cocktails, exclusive food, private seating areas, games, and charging stations. You’ll need to show your Reserve card to get in.

The last line

There are plenty of things to do at the US Open, even if you don’t have tickets to any of the actual matches. There are plenty of sponsored venues, and you can access some great free perks if you’re a Chase customer.

The Chase Lounge is full, but you can get on the wait list. In my opinion, the Chase Terrace is a real gem. It allows you to get closer to the tennis action even if you can’t get tickets to the match or the Chase Lounge.
