The Chase Freedom Flex℠ is a cashback credit card with no annual fees and a unique feature. Every three months, the card switches bonus categories, offering new opportunities to earn extra cash. After activating the categories, you’ll get 5% cash back whenever you make a quarterly purchase in any selected category, up to $1,500 in purchases per quarter.
On Wednesday, Chase revealed the latest set of Chase Freedom Flex bonus item. The new categories, launching on January 1 and running through March 31, 2022, are:
Most Chase Freedom Flex Card owners will find these categories easy to maximize, as most people shop regularly at grocery stores, and eBay is a popular online place to buy both casual items and more. and unique.
Remember to earn 5% cashback bonus Chase Freedom Flex, you need to activate the categories each quarter by phone or online at chase.com/freedomflex. You can activate these first quarter categories starting December 15, but you don’t have to activate them before you make a purchase – you can do it afterwards and still get your bonus back from present. However, the last date to activate these categories is March 14, 2022.
Also, keep in mind that you’ll only earn 5% cash back in these categories on purchases up to $1,500 per quarter. For any purchases over that limit, you’ll get 1% cash back, equal to the rate you’ll get on any purchases made outside of the bonus category. And these same categories are also available on the original Chase Freedom credit card, which is no longer open to new subscribers but is still used by many Chase customers.
In addition to earning 5% cash from rotating items, Chase Freedom Flex also comes with a set of three fixed bonus categories. You’ll get 5% cashback on travel booked through Chase Ultimate Rewards, 3% cashback on dining (including eligible delivery), and 3% cashback at pharmacies. All other purchases get 1% cashback.
Plus, there’s a way to increase the value of your Chase Freedom Flex rewards. When you also have one of Chase’s premium travel credit cards – Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card, the Chase Sapphire Reserve® or Ink Business Preferred℠ Credit Card – you have the option to convert your Chase Freedom Flex cash into Ultimate Rewards points at the rate of 1 cent per point.
You can then redeem those points for a higher value to buy travel – at 1.5 cents per Chase Sapphire Reserve or 1.25 cents each on Chase Sapphire is preferred or Business ink is prioritized. Alternatively, you can use Chase’s Give it back to yourself tools on those cards.
Current Pay Yourself Back categories for the Sapphire card are Airbnb and Away through awaytravel.com, and also dining establishments (including delivery and takeout) specifically with Sapphire Reserve. Between now and December 31, 2021, you will receive the same redemption rates in these categories – 1.5 coins for Sapphire Reserve and 1.25 coins for Sapphire Reserves – as redemption when travelling.
Finally, you can increase the value of your Ultimate Rewards Points even further by transferring them to any of Chase’s 14 airline and hotel partners. This option requires some time and research to understand how this partner’s loyalty programs work, but as airlines return to the skies, these points can be used to travel. travel to exotic destinations in first class for very little money.
Of course, if you prefer cash over travel rewards, you can just redeem the cash you earn on Chase Freedom Flex for a statement credit, or a direct deposit to most U.S. savings and checking accounts. Other options for redemption include gift cards and Amazon’s “Shop with Points” program, although you may not get much value for your points using those methods.

Regardless of whether you’re interested in cash back or travel rewards, Chase Freedom Flex is a useful credit card to have in your wallet or purse. You’ll just want to make sure you have another credit card to pair with, as that’s when it’s most valuable.
If you are interested in travel, get one Chase Sapphire is preferred or Chase Sapphire Reserve to use Chase Freedom Flex and redeem your Freedom Flex cash into tourist attractions, increasing their value and opening up additional redemption options.
If you want a refund, please pair Chase Freedom Flex with another credit card earn a higher rate on purchases outside of the bonus category. CNN Underscored’s standard credit card, the Citi® Double Cash Card, is one such option, as it earns 2% cash back on everything you buy – 1% when you make a purchase and another 1% when you pay it off. Then use Freedom Flex when you make purchases in the bonus categories and Citi Double Cash for everything else.
And if you haven’t Chase Freedom Flex credit card, you may want to consider getting one and using it to earn extra cash. The card now even comes with a signup bonus of $200 cash back after you spend $500 on purchases in the first three months after you open the account, plus 5% cashback on grocery purchases (excluding Target or Walmart) for the first 12 months you have the card, up to $12,000 in total purchases.
