News of Tina Turner’s death reverberated across social media, with many celebrities and the White House react to the news by sending their condolences. The death of the rock and roll pioneer at his home in Switzerland was announced Wednesday. She was 83.
Actress Angela Bassett, who was nominated for an Academy Award for her role as Turner in her biopic What does love have to do with?, wrote on Instagram, “How do we say goodbye to a woman who owns her pain and trauma and uses it as a means to help change the world? President Joe Biden released a statement in which he and his wife praised Turner’s achievements despite the adversities she faced. “Jill and I send our love and prayers to her husband Erwin, the rest of the Turner family, and fans around the world who are mourning the woman they agree is ‘single single. simply the best’.”
